Hayemaker rejects Briggs plea

Following Shannon Briggs open letter to the WBC Champion David Haye, the American has been dealt a crushing blow after the Hayemaker team reject any chance of a fight taking place.

Adam Booth, Haye’s manager and trainer, was shocked to hear that many had taken the veteran boxers plea seriously.

“I’m surprised it has even been taken seriously even on a website.” Booth told the Telegraph,

“Briggs must be too far gone to come out with a statement like that: ‘don’t waste your time on a unification fight with the two biggest rivals in the division?”

“We are not considering anything or any opponents at the moment,” Booth went on. “None whatsoever. We want to let everything settle, the last year was quite busy with negotiations for four world title fights, two of which have now taken place, and David is now going to take a well-earned rest.”

After being mostly inactive since losing his WBO title to Sultan Ibragimov back in 2007 on his first defence of the title, Briggs may be better suited to face another boxing veteran Evander Holyfield.

Holyfield recently turned back to clock to beat the white bull Frans Botha on April 10th in Las Vegas.

Evander Holyfield stopped Frans Botha in the eighth round to win the little known World Boxing Federation heavyweight title.

Holyfield, 47, downed the 41-year-old Botha with a right hook early in the eighth and although his South African opponent managed to return to his feet the referee, Russell Mora, later stopped the fight

Like Briggs however, the American legend may be seen as delusion as he seeks to take on both Haye and the Klitshcko brother.

“I’m going to be the undisputed world heavyweight champion,” said Holyfield after claiming the WBF title.
